WIPE Berlin Amateur Film Festival

WIPE 8th Edition's poster

WIPE is back, and it’s as raw and unruly as ever — a festival where shaky handhelds, off-kilter audio, and zero budgets reign supreme. This is where filmmakers on the edge bring their wildest visions to life, fueled by desperation, cheap wine, and dreams too twisted for Hollywood.

Forget polished perfection; WIPE thrives on beautiful chaos. Technical glitches? Guaranteed. Drunken filmmakers ranting during Q&As? Inevitable. But that’s the point. It’s unfiltered, unpredictable, and undeniably real.

So, if you’re brave enough, grab a drink and dive into the madness. WIPE is here, and it’s going to be a ride.

From 18:00
Am Flutgraben 3, 12435 Berlin

The 8th edition of WIPE will take place on November 15, 2024!

In addition to the traditional program of the best amateur films from around the world, this year we have added a new section: The Garbage Film Festival. With this, we are embarking on an exciting journey with the vital theme of sustainability through the art of cinema. Our festival will feature a dedicated segment, spotlighting films that explore environmental issues, with a special emphasis on sustainable solutions.
Stay amateur and see you soon!

Stay amateur!

A Cinematic event, an event like no other. This unique gathering of amateur artists, conmen, and freaks who meet up before they're too famous or fabulous to partake in this event.

WIPE is not just a crappy amateur film festival. WIPE is a state of mind, just like Coney Island used to be. WIPE takes the typical cheap-ass underground film festival on a spin. The festival space is not a cinema hall but an open space, where different moments follow one another and sometimes merge like milk and cookies on X-mass Eve or Hannukah or whatever, you catch our drift... from screenings to music performances, stand-up comedy and, of course, a bar that allows the audience to connect before, during, and after the screenings. This little island makes everything even more tolerable.

The whole shebang is just an excuse to create a complexity of elements going on for seven years. Each and every year is memorable for at least someone. Maybe this year, it will be you. The movies are usually sincere. They haven’t been tainted by greedy producers, film critiques, rejections, and mold. It is the best way to start or end your career, or you can simply pass by and compare a Philipino Horror short to Godard’s earliest stuff while drinking some exotic cocktails concocted by a midget wearing a rental tuxedo or the guy next door.
